What a trip that was! 4 weeks at the Pollensa Park Hotel in Puerto Pollensa, Majorca. By the time we finished we were pretty much on first name terms with the staff….
We were blessed with great weather during the stay: if memory serves we only lost one morning when it was too wet to ride safely but we still managed to get 65ks in in the afternoon, it just meant a trip to Muro for a coffee which is no great hardship. We had good feedback from our riders (I can’t bring myself to call them customers or clients because they are friends) and I think we achieved our purpose – that was to add some value to their riding rather than just tow them around the island. All of them improved in some way whether it was simple stuff like eating and drinking on the move or tackling some of the bigger climbs. A week in Majorca means you can take on pretty much anything on a bike when you get home: sportives, club 10’s and 25’s, training runs, 700 metre descents…anything… The hotel was good again (the entertainment was brilliant for all the wrong reasons), food was great, company was excellent. For me, a bonus of the trip was meeting Sean Kelly in Tolos restaurant. I was like a bike kid but then that’s nothing new… ‘Pleasure to meet you Mr Kelly, I’m a big fan…’ etc. Brilliant. |
